Breweries Active Again

THE week opened on ‘Change this morning with a very firm tone in the market for all the popular securities. New Zealand Breweries are again featuring, the market firming, following sales in the South, to see business this morning at up to 56s 6d.
"Banks are very firm. Commercials r»r Australia were dealt with at 30s 4d flu ring the morning, sellers moving up to 30s 6d. New Zealands, ex div.. are 60c 9d. Unions of Australia aro very firm on last week’s improved levels with sellers at £ls 11s 6d. supported hy buyers at £ls Ills 6d. ire quiet. New Zeands are slightly easier, sellers dropping 3d at mid-day, to find support from buyers at 665. South British are very firm. In coals. Pukemiros have a slightly better tone, steady buyers at 64s 6d noL drawing sellers lower than 695. Renowns are steady w ith sellers at 16s. * * * Taranaki Oils are quiet, sellers at r.s loins supported at ss. It is interesting to n»>te that the general mana-
ger of this concern has been sent over to the United States on the company’s business. Apparently the idea is to investigate the possibility of coping with, difficulties such as that met with at the Morere bore. A steady demand exists for Government and local body debentures. Buyers predominate. Auckland Hospital Board 5£ per cei were quoted with a middle price of £IOO 5s at mid-day. Business at this morning’s early call: Reported—New Zealand Breweries, 555. Business at mid-day: On ’Change— Auckland Gas, 23s 5d (two parcels). Reported—New Zealand Breweries, 56s and 56s 6d; Bank’/of Australasia, £l4 14s; Commercial Bank of Australia, 30s 4d.
