COAL STORE ABLAZE

TRUCKS AND STORES LOST DAMAGE ABOUT £3,060 Press Association HAWERA, Wednesday. Heavy’’ damage was done by a fire which broke out in the business premises of Mr. A. E. McDonald, at Opunake, at 1.30 this morning. A corrugated iron building, subdivided into a garage, coal shed and office, was completely destroyed. Three motortrucks, and stocks of coal, coke, oil. cement and manures were also lost. The damage is estimated at between £2,000 and £3,000. The building was situated on the main road about a quarter of a mile from the centre of the town, but as there was no water supply available, nothing could be dose to check the spread of the flames, which had a good hold when the outbreak was discovered. Insurance figures include £225 on the stock and £3OO on the building.
