j a garden fete, preliminary to a i bazaar at a later date, was held by. j the Morrinsville* Catholics on Saturday | afternoon and night and resulted in over £l3O being raised. The fete was | opened by Mr. F. Lye, member for j Waikato. \ The workers were: Flower stall, j Misses M. L. and E. Strevens; plain I and fancy. Mrs. Foster and Mrs. J. H. Ford: produce. Mrs. Mellow, Mrs. 13. | Hickey and Miss Gregan: children’s, Miss Cussen. Mrs. Mathieson, Mrs. j Glynn, Airs. Allen and Mrs. H. A. Smith; refreshments. Miss Verner, i Mesdames T. J. Ryan, P. J. Reynolds, j" G. Casey, Hornsey, Alisses G. Howarth, ! Al. Casey, P. Reynolds. P O’Brien.. N. Ryan, E. Thrupp. K. Brown, M. Aluir land K. Moody; side shows. Messrs. B. Russek. T. O’Brien, I. Barker, Forster. B. Chapman. Competitions and art unions were' won as follow: Art needlework shawl. Airs. Caldwell (Patetonga): lire screen. Air. E. Grigg; dolls. Joan Bain and Airs. Peterson: oil paintings, Airs. A. Benge, Air. W. Xeels and Air. AT. Murphy (Eureka); cushions. Air. T. H. Hooker. Airs. L. A. Faulkner, Afiss Mannion; weight-guessing (pig). Air. J. Verner: putting competition, Aliss Gledstones. The final of a basketball competition was won by Hamilton, S, v. Tauwhare, 6.
