TEMPERANCE MEETING

CHILDREN’S PRIZE ESSAY The Henderson branch of the W.C.T.U. held a special meeting recently in the Foresters* Hall .to award the prizes for the best essay on temperance by the school children. Mrs. W. G. Williams presided over an attendance of about SO members and their friends. The four prizes for the essay—two for girls and two for boys —were won as follows: Kathleen Ashton 1. Ellen Roberts 2: Laurence Haythornthwaite 1. Percy Hughes 2. The prizes were presented by Mrs. Kay par. Mr. W. Hay thornth waite. chairman of tho Henderson School Committee, read the winning essays, and ;« musical programme was given as follows: Songs, Mrs. Harold Wright: recitations, Mrs. Elcoat and Master Arthur Wallbank: vocal duct, Misses Ozic-h. The meeting concluded with the singing of “God Save the King.”
