ELECTRICITY IN FRANKLIN
The monthly meeting of the Franklin Electric-Power Board was held yesterday, Air. J. Dean presiding. The Bank of New Zealand, Fapakura, in reply to representations on the subject, advised that the associated banks had agreed to charge a fee of U per cent, on consumers’ account? collected by them on behalf of elec-tric-power boards in lieu of 2J per cent, as intended. The board decided to request the banks to reduce the fee to 1 per cent., in view of the former ettarge of one-quarter per cent., and to solicit the support of other boards Advice was received that the transformers for the Te Kohanga district would arrive on December 20 by the Tamaroa, and an effort is to be made to instal them prior to Christmas. It was decided to let tenders for the wiring of the Pukekawa district at an early date. The engineer reported that the reticulation of the Onewhero district was completed, and that Cuff’s -Drury Road would be livened during the next davs. The contractors erecting poles in the To Kohanga and Pukekawa districts were making satisfactory progress. The reticulation of Ararimu was also proceeding apace.
