SHORT-WAVE WORK
MR. CHURTON HEARS PARIS The already long list of stations logged is being added to very rapidly by Mr. M. H. Churton, 12 Lexter Avenue, Mt. Eden, who has now “logged” 160 stations (broadcast band and short wave). Listening in at 1 a.m. one morning last week, Mr. Churton heard Paris on about 25 metres. On two valves it came in at about RB. Everything was in French, and Mr. Churton was only able to identify the station by hearing “lei Paris” (Paris here). On about 17 metres Mr. Churton heard four stations working on duplex. •One was Java, another POLL Holland, and the other two Mr. Churton could not identify. On Sunday afternoon the writer heard 2AB Wanganui working telephony with 4AB Lunedin, the' latter using morse. 2AB was very clear, and his modulation was excellent. Generator hum was hardly noticeable. The same afternoon 2XAF New York and KLKA Pittsburg were also heard.
