ENTHRONING PRIMATE
SIR JAMES PARR TO ATTEND CROWDS CHEER DR. LANG (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.15 a.m. LONDON, Monday. Mr. T. Trumble, official secretary for the Commonwealth in London, will represent the Australian High Commissioner, Sir Granville Ryrie, at Dr. Lang’s enthronement as Archbishop of Canterbury to-morrow. Sir James Parr will represent Hew Zealand. The Mayor and Corporation of Canterbury presented the new Archbishop with an address at the Guildhall. Crowds cheered him as he passed through the streets to the Palace. In replying to the address of welcome Dr. Lang referred to the adjustment of the respective claims of York and Canterbury which had been waged with bitter feuds in ancient days. The Archbishop of York once actually ohysically sat upon the Archbishop of Canterbury. Dr. Lang said he hoped that would not hapen in the immediate future, because if his successor at York chose to sit upon him he could not well bear the burden. The cathedral hells rang out as Dr. Lang entered the Palace.
