BURNING COAL SETS WOODEN HOUSE ON FIRE

A burning coal from a furnace in the shop of F. C. Winzenberg, sheetmetal worker, of 5 Hobson Street, caused a fire last night. The furnace was on the upper floor of the shop, which is a. two-storey wooden building, and tho coal, rolling out of the grate, burned its way through the floor, fell to the ground floor and then burned its way through that until it reached the ground under the house. Tho fire was then discovered, and the City Brigade was called at about 1 o’clock this morning. It was easily prevented from spreading, and very little damage was done. The contents of the shop were insured for £SOO in the New Zealand Office.
