WARNING TO MARINERS. —The Secretary of Marine reports that the master of the Cygnet sighted a large log, 60ft long, one mile east of Kaikoura Peninsula, which is dangerous to shipping. PORT CURTIS RETURNING. —The Commonwealth and Dominion Line’s steamer Fort Curtis is to return to Auckland on December 12 to load for New York, Boston and Elalifax. She will continue loading later at Wellington, and will sail finally from Napier on December 28. AORANGI AT HONOLULU. —The Royal Mail liner Aorangi, en route from Auckland to Vancouver, arrived at Honolulu on Sunday. The vessel is due at Vancouver on Friday, and is to sail for. Auckland on December 12. She is due at Auckland on December 30. ROTORUA FOR WELLINGTON.— Cargo work on the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rotorua, which arrived from London and Southampton on Sunday and berthed at Queen’s Wharf, was commenced yesterday. It is hoped to dispatch the vessel for Wellington at 5 o’clock on Thursday afternoon. MATAKANA NEXT MONDAY.— The Shaw, Savill and Albion Line's steamer Matakana is due at Auckland from Wellington next Monday to load for London and West Coast ports of the United Kingdom. She is to sail finally from Wellington on December 31. L. D. Nathan and Company, Ltd., are the local agents. OMANA’S DEPARTURE POSTPONED —The Lamb steamer Omana coul’d not complete loading Auckland cargo at Central Wharf yesterday, and her departure for Hokianga has been postponed until three o’clock this afternoon. The vessel will complete loading at Hokianga, and will then sail for Melbourne and Sydney. The Northern Company are the local agents. H.M.S. DIOMEDE SAILED.— To join H.M.S. Dunedin in the Ilauraki Gulf and carry out gunnery practice and annual manoeuvres, H.M.S. Diomede left port yesterday morning. Both warships will return to Auckland on Friday. H.M.S. Veronica and H.M.S. Laburnum will leave port to-morrow, and will spend 10 days on the gulf, returning to port on December 14. EASTMOOR ARRIVES. —With general cargo from Eastern Canadian ports, the Canadian National Steamships chartered steamer Eastmoor arrived in the stream at Auckland shortly before 11 o’clock this morning. She was to berth this afternoon at Prince’s Wharf to commence discharge. She will put the remainder of her cargo out at Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. MATAROA SAILS. —For Southampton and London, the Shaw, Savil* and Albion Company’s liner Mataroa sailed finally from Wellington at 6 o’clock last evening. nazy. _ WAIPAHI AT SUVA. —An arrival at Suva this morning was the Island fruit steamer Waipahi, from Auckland. SYDNEY STEAMERS. —The UUmaroa arrived at Sydney shortly after 7 o’clock this morning- from Auckland. The Marama arrived at Wellington at half-past five this morning from Sydney. The Maunganui is due at Auckland tomorrow morning from Sydney. Up till noon to-day she had not reported hy wireless. CUMBERLAND REPORTS.—Wireless advice was received yesterday by the local agents, the New Zealand Shipping Company, that the Federal Line’s steamer Cumberland, with cargo from Liverpool and West Coast ports of the United Kingdom, will arrive at Auckland at 8 o’clock to-morrow morning. The vessel will berth at Prince's Wharf. After discharge of the local consignment of her cargo she will sail for Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers and Timaru. NIAGARA'S PASSENGERS.
