KEELERS RACE TO KAWAU

After a hurried conference on the Friday evening members of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron decided to hold a sweepstake race to Kawau on Saturday afternoon. The race was started on the Mark Fo>r system off the eastern breakwater. There was a fine sou’-west breeze, and the competitors had a great trip down the channel to the island. The boats finished in the following order: Thelma (9|m), Waione. lorangi. Kotiri. Ariki (scr), Brize, Moana, the first-named winning in 3.0.7£. In addition to these boats there were many other yachts and launches in Mansion House Bay. Rawene, Little Jim, Rangi, Windward and Viking were also there. Thelma and Kotiri cleaned alongside the wharf. H.M.S. Dunedin was in the bay on the Saturday evenir g and music from the ship’s band was greatly appreciated by the yachtsmen.
