OTAHUHU PARISH FAIR
COOKING COMPETITION The Otahuhu Anglican Parish Fair was continued in the Otahuhu Public Hall on Saturday afternoon and evening, and continued to draw large attendances at both sessions. The ball was filled to capacity in the evening. Keen interest was displayed in the cooking competition. The following competitors gaining the awards out of a record list of entries: Chocolate sponge, Mrs. Kent-Johnson; shortbread, Miss Masefield; gems, Mrs. W. Pee; pikelets, Mrs. Anderson: scones, Mrs. Jenkins; tarts, Mrs. Jenkins; butter sponge, Miss Daisy Greenwood, 1; Rev. F. C. Truman, special; nut loaf. Mrs. Anderson; madeira cake, Miss Masefield; peanut toffee, Mrs N. Pee: plain toffee, Mrs. Edelsten; turkish delight, special, Mrs. Edelsten. Prize winners in the fancy dress parade were Olive Russell, as No More Strikes, and Fred Russell, as A Cowboy. A special trophy was awarded to Mrs. F. McDell, as “Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch.” Each of the entrants in the fancy dress parade received a balloon.
