GIRL GUIDES’ SALE At St. Mary’s Hall, Parnell, on Saturday afternoon, the St. Mary’s Company of Girl Guides held a bring-and-buy afternoon. The hall was decorated with red rose streamers and looked exceedingly attractive. On the various stalls cakes, sweets, produce and flowers were offered for sale, and there were lucky dips for the children and fortune telling for the grown-ups. Miss E. C. Ward, captain of the guides, arranged and organised the afternoon and the profits, which came to £4 10s, will go to help the expenses of the annual camp. In the evening, after the sale was over, a dress dance was held. NORTH SHORE BAZAARS TWO DURING WEEK-END During the week-end two successful bazaars were held over on the North Shore. The Milford Cruising Club held a bazaar and Paddy’s Market on Saturday afternoon in the Clubhouse at Milford. The bazaar was opened by the Mayor of Takapuna, Mr. J. W. Williamson, who congratulated the ladies’ committee on the support they had given the club in its social activities. The stalls were held by the following ladies: —Christmas tree, Mrs. A. Stewart, Mrs. Forbes, Mrs. T. Webster, Miss Webster, Miss Dilly and Miss Hooker: Paddy’s market stall, Mrs. E. Webster, Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Wakefield; sweets, Miss Bertram, Miss Forbes and Miss Wood. The other bazaar was held in the Parish Hall, Birkenhead, and was managed by the ladies of the All Saints’ Anglican Church. It was a great success and the various stalls were kept busy supplying the wants of the visitors.
