FEWER PEOPLE BORN
BIRTH STATISTICS DROP MORE DEATHS THAN LAST YEAR Fewer births and fewer marriages are being recorded in Auckland, but deaths are increasing when compared with previous years. Births in November totalled 242, as against 331 for the same month last year; deaths, 135, as against 127; and marriages 173, as against 191. During the month the registrar performed 39 marriages, compared with 41 in November, 1927. For the 11 months this year there have been 2,759 births, as compared with 3,262 in the corresponding period in 1927. Deaths total 1,627, as against 1,657. and marriages 1,854, as against 1,845. A total of 459 marriages was performed by the registrar, as compared with 451 for 11 months in 1927.
