Takapuna Concludes Its Spring Meeting SERVICEABLE MODES As the skies threatened so gloomily this morning to weep rainy tears, madam© of the racing mind was not inspired to make any elaborate toilette for the close of the Takapuna Jockey Club’s spring meeting. Out came the little tailleurs again in all their sturdy tweediness, and snug coats of every material covered up most of the onepiece frocks, even though the sun shone brightly later in the day. Hats were of every shape and size and of all materials from light-weight felts to fancifully-woven straws of the crinoline variety. Among those present were: Mrs. Ernest Alison, oyster grey tailored suit and bangkok hat. Mrs. Campbell (Gisborne), tangerine rilk frock, with brown coat, and oyster &I *Mrs. ia Bowden, bottle green ensemble suit, and small hat to tone. Mrs. T. O’Brien, pastel pink velour frock, -and hat to tone, with squirrel C °Mrs. C. Prime, Chinese red kilted suit, and red hat. Mrs. Green, navy blue ensemble suit, and green hat. . ... Mrs. H. Dryden, lisbon blue striped silk ensemble suit, with grey marabout collar, and navy blue straw hat. Miss A. Davison, cedar brown ensemble, and hat to tone. Mrs. N. Webber, black ensemble suit, and lacquer red hat. Miss R. Carter, naples blue ensemble suit, with blue visca straw hat to tone. Miss Marks, brown speckled cloth suit, cocoa brown hat, with lighter shaded ribbon. Miss West, oriental crepe de chine, with navy relief, and navy hat. Miss M. Bailey, beige jersey suit, with handkerchief scarf and bangkok hat. Mrs. L. Pettit, navy crepe de chine frock, honey toned cloth coat, navy felt hat. Mrs. Markham, fawn tweed suit, and small rose hat. Mrs. J. Alexander, apple green suit, with beaver cloth coat, and black liseret hat. Mrs. M. MacCallum,, black lace frock over midnight blue, and small blue hat. Mrs. H. Gillespie, daffodil crepe de chine frock, under biscuit cloth coat, with daffodil felt hat. Mrs. R. Hannon, wine red marocain frock, with silver grey coat and black hat. Mrs. Webster, black cloth ensemble suit and black rice straw hat. Mrs. Pezaro, black satin beaute-fringed ensemble suit, and small black hat. Mrs. D. Macdonald, black embossed velvet frock, under black satin coat, and small black hat. Mrs. H. Gresham, navy blue ensemble suit and black hat. Mrs. Horton, checked black and white suit and black bangkok liat. Mrs. N. Burton, beige kilted frock with henna jacket and straw hat to tone. Mrs. McGregor Grant, grey suit, with stone marten necklet and grey felt hat. Mrs. Boucher, french blue ensemble suit and blue hat. Mrs, W. Spence, black crepe de chine frock with red and gold embroidery and black hat. Mrs. J. Beale, apricot georgette frock and lace straw hat to tone. Mrs. R. Philson, honey beige tweed suit and apple green hat. Mrs. ißrittain, rose du barri crepe de chine frock and straw hat to tone. Mrs. O’Connor, navy frock and wine straw hat. Mrs. J. Hellaby, navy frock, with ecru collar and cuffs and small navy hat. Mrs. Wright, old rose suit and hat to tone. Mrs. Joyce, black crepe de chine coat frock, with ivory lace vest and black straw hat. Mrs. Clendon, navy and rose jumper suit and navy hat. Mrs. Harper, black frock with brown fox furs and crimson hat. Mrs. P. Bailey, navy crepe de chine frock and navy hat. Mrs. Duder, navy ensemble suit, black hat, with orange piping-. Miss R. ‘Cornaga, red and blue spotted frock and red hat. Mrs. W. Stewart, leaf green tailored costume and green hat. Miss -F.
