HIDDEN IN HEDGE
CONSTABLE FINDS STOLEN GOODS MAORI CHARGED WITH THEFT (From Our Own Correspondent) OPOTIKI, Friday. A native. Jack Kora, 22, was arrested at Waioeka yesterday and charged at the Police Court to-day with breaking and entering the dwelling of Kiri Wai arid stealing £7O in notes and silver, also a silver watch, a gold and greenstone watch-chain, a gola ring, and a leather suitcase of the total value of £IOO. Constable Breed, who prosecuted, said lio found the bag after great dilficulty hidden in a‘hawthorn hedge. Inside were a ring, chain and watch. The money was not recovered, though some had been traced, having been paid away to local stores. Accused was remanded for eight days.
