PASSING SHOTS
“Missionary in trouble with, cannibals!” reads a headline. _ln a stew, in fact. Stockings were invented in the eleventh century, but weren’t discovered until the twentieth. “I’ve knocked about the world a good deal,” said a witness recently. A golfer, evidently. “Some people sleep like logs,” says a doctor. Yes, with a circular saw going through them. “Life is cheap in Chicago,” says a traveller. A case of “here to-day—gun to-morrow.” Cheer up! Permanent peace is in sight. The statistics show that the World is spending more money for face powder gunpowder. The table-knife, as we know it, was not introduced until the 16tli century. It was no doubt about this time that the garden pea became a table delicacy. The difficulty with slowing down your motor-car in order to see the scenery lies in the fact that the passing cars will compel you to eat a considerable portion of it.
