CR. MURRAY GRUMBLES
ANOTHER REQUEST FAILS CR. DONALD’S DEFIANCE Dissatisfied with the findings of the committee which investigated his charges, Cr. W. H. Murray made application to the City Council last evening for an official copy of all evidence taken after January 1, 1928, during the course of the investigations. “The. evidence upon which the report was based had not been placed before the council,” said Cr. Murray. “I know there are other councillors who wish to see this evidence. “It is not my place to criticise the report until I see the material upon which it is based,” he said. Cr. T. Bloodworth seconded the motion. “I defy Cr. Murray to say he treated the committee fairly—he obstructed it from the outset,” said Cr. J. Donald, who opposed the application. “I am a ratepayer’s man, and I swear we have done straightforward work on the committee. Cr. Murray has not played the game.” The Mayor pointed out that Cr. Murray had had ample opportunity to hear all evidence, but lie did not see fit to remain on the committee. He could even have attended as a councillor. The application was declined, only Crs. Bloodworth, Kealy and Murray voting in favour.
