STREET COLLECTIONS
FURTHER RESTRICTIONS A new method of dealing with appliea.Lions for street collections and allocations was submitted to the City Council by tne Finance Committee last evening. Tho recommendation was that in future the limit of six collections yearly, to be held between May and October should be selected by ballot from whatever list was approved by the council. Cr. J. \\ r . Ivealy asked if one collection to six weeks would be sufficient. Cr. J. A. C. Allum suggested that some of the organisations might combine and have a day. The collections had been so small lately that they could lose little. “They haven’t the organisation to get tho best results,” remarked the Mayor. Tho recommendation, was adopted. Three further applications were before the council, one from the Community Sunshine Club, one from the Blue Cross supporters, and one from Mrs. K. Nicol. interested in the Southern Cross League. The last mentioned was declined, and the others have yet to be considered-
