UNITED PARTY
AUCKLAND EAST SUPPORTERS At. a well attended meeting of United Party supporters, last evening, a branch was formed to further the interests of the party in Auckland East. Dr. W. H. Horton presided. in congratulating Mr. J. B. Donald, M.P., who was present, on his success, the chairman referred to the clean fight that had been fought. It was one devoid of personalities, and the able exposition of the party’s platform and the assistance of willing workers resulted in the seat being won for the United Party. Mr. Donald was accorded an enthusiastic reception. He thanked all those who had assisted in the campaign, many of whom had made a personal sacrifice to achieve the great results. Definite plans were made for the future, and a comprehensive programme was prepared. A strong committee was formed, while another was set up by the women, under the presidency of Mrs. Von Sturmer. Special mention was made of the keenness of junior members of the electorate to be associated with the organisation, and definite steps were taken to link them up with the party.
