BUILDING OF POKENO-PAEROA RAILWAY BACKBLOCK DENTAL TREATMENT (Prom Our Own Correspondent) PUKEKOHE. To-day. The half-yearly conference of Franklin chambers of commerce was held in Pokeno Valley Hall _ esterday afternoon, the president of the Pokeno Chamber, Air. J. "Woodcock, presiding. Delegates from the Pokeno. Tuakau. \\ aiuku, Pukekolie and PaDakura Chambers of Commerce, and Mr. FI. Wilcox (Franklin County) and Mr. J. Dean (Franklin Power Board) were present. The following remit was carried: “That this conference is of the opinion that the time limit set for concession to workers travelling on the railway be extended to 9 a.m.” It was also decided to ask the Education Board to consider the claims of the backblocks children to the benefits of dental treatment; that the Government be urged to proceed with the construction of the railway line from Pokeno to Paeroa; and that in order to meet the competition of motor transport, the Hallway Department be asked to reduce the ordinary railway fares.
