Tea Time Does the Best at Takapuna

1 SMART FIVE-FURLONGS NANCY LEE IMPRESSES A brilliant five furlongs by Tea Time was the outstanding feature ; of this morning's work at the Takapuna course, the time registered, 1.4, being excellent. All the gallops were recorded on the extreme outside of the course proper, and from the barrier the distance 'traversed was considerably further than the actual journey mentioned. This made Tea Time's effort very meritorious, and it looks as if his To Kuiti form can be ignored. Leitrim was of little use to the Tea Tray gelding, and he has speed to try out almost any horse. Tb Atiawa jumped iway faster than i Miss Mercia, and he beat her home | over half a mile in 54, but both did : their task nicely. Te Atiawa is the Taranaki fancy for the sprint. At Her Best Looking dressed in her very best, Nancy Lee impressed as one likely to be a dangerous candidate in the sprint to-morrow. She ran five furlongs in 1.6 2-5, the last half-mile in 53 3-5, but was not extended. Love Call ran away from Crimestor and was easing up at the end of four furlongs in 56 4-5, and Sports King covered half a mile in 50 2-5, the final three furlongs taking 40 2-5. Flying Juliet was not asked to do her : best to run 1.7 for five, tike last half in 53 4-5. Mosque went an easy six furlongs, and Komak did not impress when he took 1.7 1-5 for live. There was nothing meritorious in British King’s defeat of Tukunoa over five in I.S 3-5, and Big Bertha, looking well, was not sent against the watch. Sprinted Well Armenia ran home from the five in a slow 1.11, and Storm Fiend joined in at the half-mile, the latter completing his share of the journey (according to private watches) in 53. lie is engaged on the second day. The two-year-old Cymon went three furlongs (the actual distance from the disk) in 38 2-5, and made friends by the manner in which he shaped- Another two-year-old. Sweet Whisper (a sister to Wyoming) took 44 4-5 for three. From a stand at the five furlongs, Seatown defeated Seastar by less than a length in 1.8 1-5. Pouri was given long work, and so were Transformer and Star of the Last, who came home the last half-mile in 54. Prince Val took 57 for four furlongs from a. standing start. Others to work were White Wings, Orclius, Blackaire, Macroom, Glenstar and The Lamb. Several Absentees Up to this afternoon liaison, The Begum and Town Bird had not put in an appearance, and they can be regarded as very doubtful starters at the meeting. Latest arrivals are F. Loomb, with Desert Glow, Arikitoa, Air King, Prodice (who may be given a run on Saturday), Awamutu and Cybele; G. Paul with Aussie, Awarere, Papatu, Rose Mint and Just Nell; R. Hannon with Tinokoa and Roman Abbey; A. Cook, with Becalmed and Speechless; and G. Gillctt, with Fraser and Master Roley. The course was again in excellent order this morning, and even a good deal more rain will have little effect on the going.
