BILLS ALL TORN DOWN

PIGMY MAN’S MANAGER WORKS HARD ILLEGAL PUBLICITY Allan Evans, who controls the movements of the “Pigmy Man,’ an attraction at the reecn* A. and P. Show, was able to tell Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court this morning that he had removed all but two of the advertising posters, which had resulted in his first appearance in Court on Saturday.

On Saturday Evans and. \\ ijliam Galvin pleaded guilty to posting bills on private hoardings without obtaining the permission of the City Council. Mr R. H. Mackay complained that the town had been plastered with bills and asked for the imposition of the maximum penalty of £2O. Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M., gave Evans until to-day to remove the posters, “The more bills you pull down the less will be the fine,” he remarked. This morning Mr. Mackay admitted that most of the posters had been pulled down, though the work had been done rather carelessly. Evans claimed that he had worked all night, employing five men and using two motor-cars. He had personally made a tour of inspection and was unable to find a single poster on view. “Your industry has saved you £20,” commented the magistrate as he fined Evans £2 and Galvin, who did not appear, having taken a position in tha country, £l.
