In the Market Place
PEAR PRICES LOW GOOD ORANGE DEMAND Values for pears from the cool storage were very low on the City Markets to-day. Pears are now hard to clear at any price. Local apples, too, are in poor demand, and prices are low. The demand for lemons has improved slightly, but the inquiry is still only fair. Fairly large quantities of gooseberries are coming to hand. Prices vary from day to day. Strawberries are meeting with a keen demand. The inquiry for cherries is up to expectations. Sydney oranges are meeting with a fair demand. The vegetable market is heavily supplied with green peas. The rain during the week-end affected the supplies of new potatoes, but there will be large quantities coming to hand during the week.
