CARDINAL AT SUVA
A WONDERFUL RECEPTION ENTERTAINED AT DINNER (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. SUVA, To-day. The Aorangi, hound fqr Vancouver, arrived at 6.30 last evening and sailed at 6 o’clock this morning. Cardinal Cerretti had a wonderful reception from the largest cosmopolitan crowd ever gathered at the Suva Wharf. He was entertained at dinner in the Town Hall by the Catholic Young Men’s Society. The Governor of Fiji, the Mayor of Suva, the Chief Justice, the Colonial Secretary, Bishop Nicolas, of Fiji, the Bishop of Tonga, and all of Suva’s principal citizens, were present. Afterwards the Cardinal attended a sdtvice at the Cathedral and received addresses of welcome. Then there were native ceremonies—the Yagona ceremony and mekes by Fijians, Samoans, Wallis Islanders and Gilbert Islanders —in the convent grounds, which were specially lighted. The weather was perfect.
