EXPORT LAMB PRICES OPENING RATES ANNOUNCED The opening prices for the 1928-29 - season for lamb on the hooks at the 1 freezing works announced yesterday are: Up to 3tilb., 9id a lb. 361 b. to 421 b., 9d. Over 421 b. and seconds, Bld. For the First time on record Auckland rates are on a par with those ruling f.i Hawke’s Bay and Wellington. Lam a.have been offering here for the past three weeks, but the works are not expected to be running at full capacity for another week or so yet. In the f majority of instances the lambs handled ! to date this season have netted the seller more than the published schedule rates, and it is not cpcpected that | many will be sold on an “on-the-hooks” basis at any time during the season. Farmers for the most part pre- * fer to deal at so much a head in the paddock.
