DRUNKEN MAN’S INVITATION TO CONSTABLE IN ANOTHER MAN’S CAR When Thomas Atkinson asked a constable to come with him for a joy-ride last evening, he forgot that he was sitting in someone else’t car. This morning, Atkinson, a bootmaker, aged 60, was charged with being intoxicated in charge of a motor - lorry. Sub-Inspector McCarthy suggested that th charge be reduced to one of simple drunkenness. Atkinson had told a policeman that he owned the lorry and asked him to come for a ride. It was later discovered that Atkinson had no connection with the lorry and was merely sitting in the driving seat in a drunken stupor. He was fined ss.
