WOMAN ATTACKED
ASSAULT AT RAMARAMA MAN FACES SERIOUS CHARGES This morning Frederick Thomas Kelly May, aged 24, appeared at the Mag*strate’s Court on a charge of committing rape at Ramarama on November 12. On the application of ChiefDetective Hammond, Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M., granted a remand to November 26. There v. as no application for ! bail. ! On the night of November 1- a woman jof 71. living alone at Ramarama, was i assaulted by a. masked intruder. She Was wakened by a knock, and when she went to the door the woman was overj powered by a man, whose face was covered with a handkerchief. After assaulting the woman, the intruder forced her to write a cheque, which she did. Her assailant then made off quickly. , Yesterday May appeared at Whangnrci 1 on a charge of committing rape on a girl of 14. He was also charged with the j theft of a bicycle, a diamond ring, and a cheque.
