PREFERS A JURY
HABITUAL CRIMINAL’S CHOICE REMANDED FOR WEEK Charles William Wahle would rather face twelve of his fellow men than be dealt with by a magistrate. This morning he was charged with obtaining goods valued at £ 4 17s and £7 3s in cash from Thomas Henry Cardock on September 7, by means of a valueless cheque. He was also charged with stealing cutlery valued at £ 1 10s from Florence Barbara Mason on October 3. Wahle elected to be tried by jury but Chief-Detective Hammond asked for a remand until November 29. "Wahle is an habitual criminal and is at present serving a sentence of three years so the remand will do him no harm,” he said.
