WATER FOR HAMILTON

AUTHORITY FOR LOAN POLL (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Thursday. Waterworks improvements at Hamilton, involving an expenditure of £40,670, have been approved by the Local Government Loans Board. In a letter received by the Hamilton Borough Council last evening the board recommended that the proposed scheme, which included the construction of a new high-level reservoir, should be proceded with when a poll of ratepayers had sanctioned the expenditure. Sanction to proceed with the raising of the loan was given on condition that the major of the two schemes submitted by the council should be put into effect. It was stated the draw-off from the reservoir during the last seven days had averaged 720,000 gallons daily, 200,000 gallons in excess of Hie volume for the corresponding peri< \ last year. The fixing of a date Tor the poll was deferred.
