NO INTERFERENCE
HARBOUR BOARD POLICY MT. ROSKILL SECESSION Believing that it should not interfere with any other local bodies, the Harbour Board decided yesterday that it could not sign a petition of secession from the Mt. Roskill Road Board district. The Mt. Roskill South Ratepayers’ Association wrote asking the board to sign a petition to secede from the Road Board and join the city in order to escape from rating on unimproved value. The letter alleged that the system of rating was unfair. The chairman, Mr. M. H. Wynyard. said that the board could not be connected with any interference with another local body, although he believed that from a financial point of view the board would be better to have its property in the city than in the Road Board district. On a private section he had paid 30s last year, but this year tlie amount had been raised to £ 6 10s. The board decided to take no action.
