GREAT NEW MARKET

SFITALFiELDS PROGRESS British Official Wireless RUGBY, Monday. The new market at Spitalfields, which King George will open on Thursday, will be the hnest fruit and vegetable market in the world. Built at a cost of £2,000,000, it will contain every known improvement in market methods. An area of 101 acres of slum streets was cleared for the site of the market. The former inhabitants were transferred to new residential blocks elsewhere. Around the market narrow alleys have been built into wide streets. Further work in this direction has still to be done.
