j WAITEMATA MEMBERS GIVE GAY FUNCTION AT DIXIELAND Dixieland was very gay last evening, when the Waitemata B-oating Cluld held its annual dance. OPERATIC SOCIETY ENJOYABLE SOCIAL HELD The main object of the Operatic Society’s Committee in conducting monthly socials is to give members an opportunity to develop their talents, and judging from the programme presented at the social last evening, it would appear that the society has many gifted performers. Several farcical sketches were presented by the following members: Alisses Eva Stares, Winifred Crosher, Gladys Fowler, Jean Gordon, Dot Taylor, Lynda Murphy, Captain Redmond. Messrs. Jack Gordon, Jim Sharpe and: George Aloody. Operatic solos were | contributed by Misses Beryl Smith and Alma McGruer, \and excellent dance music was provided by the Amateur Syncopaters. “THE MAN FROM TORONTO”

KOHIMARAMA PRODUCTION During the week the Koliimarama Dramatic {Society gave a very successful production, “The Alan From Toronto,” in the local hall, before a large and enthusiastic audience. After the performance an informal supper was given at which, in reply to a toast on behalf of the visitors, Airs. Bartley Baxter praised the work of the cast and of the producer, Air. F. C. Webster.
