Beryl Burton, of Xewton West School, Auckland. has been selected the winner of the rhyming and writins competition, held by the -British and Colonial Industries.” Bery i s a pupil of Standard Six of her school, and by her success she is entitled to take her father or her mother from Timaru to Mount Cook and spehd a week at the Hermitage, free of cost. The competition was open to all primary schools, and thousands of chidren sent in entries. The first prize was for the best rhyme, written in the best hand, about Mount Cook.
