“DETECTIVES” To-night at the Majestic Theatre full election results will be screened until after 11 p.mj, in conjunction with an augmented programme. Majestic patrons will therefore be enabled to view a special programme and make use of a special election service at this popular rendezvous. Heading the programme will be “Detectives,” an hilarious comedy, with Karl Dane and George K. Arthur. Dane as a “hick” hotel detective and Arthur as a bellboy who longs to be a sleuth, start on the trail of a “master criminal,” and their adventures,, misadventures, and hair-raising experiences form the comedy angle. The story itself is a “straight” mystery thriller, every situation being played seriously, the laughs being gained' by the blundering of the amateur sleuths into nests of flying knives, secret trap doors, mummy cases, and. so on. A scenic, “Beautyland,” a merry comedy, “Tell It to the Judge.” an amusing Aesop Fable cartoon, “Down on the Farm,” and the latest news, contained in the Majestic News, comprise the supporting programme. Under the conductorship of Mr. Whiteford Waugh, the Majestic Orchestra plays a special programme. “Lilac Time,” which is based on the life of the famous composer, Schubert, whose centenary si being celebrated, is featured as the interlude. On Friday a big double programme will be screened. The first picture will be “No Other Woman.” Dolores Del Rio. whose unforgettable role of Charmpine in “What Price Glory” made her famous overnight, scores again as Carmelita in the colourful drama, “No Other Woman,” directed by Lou Tellegen. Instead of the wild French peasant girl, she portrays a sophisticated woman of the world with success. The second attraction is “Beware of Married Men,” a merry comedy-drama with Irene Rich, Clyde Cook and Stuart Holmes in the leading roles.
