A questioner gave notice that at Mr. Speirs’s meeting this evening lie would ask the candidate where he stood on the “right of recall.” A Voice: “It’s all right, there is not much chance of die candidate needing to be recalled.” Mr. Speirs trenchantly criticised th e Government, especially over its action in purchasing Ngaroma land for soldier settlement when warned that it va* “bush sick.” It was one of the greatest blunders ever perpetrated among English-speaking people, Mr. Speir 3 said.
The meeting, which was held at Lambourne’s Corner, Ponsonby Roac., tendered Mr. Speirs a unanimous vot* of thanks and confidence.
