Prince Pays Cost of African Tour
Out of Private Income (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Wednesday. According to the “Daily Express” the Prince of Wales is bearing the whole cost of his African trip out of his private funds. The expenditure is estimated at approximately £5,000. It is understood that the Prince originally intended to go to Africa for rest and relief on a private holiday, but characteristically he has taken part in receptions, ceremonies and entertainments, which obviously involved an expenditure greater than he would have incurred had he gone privately. The “Daily Express” says it understands that in order to assist meeting the increased calls on his financial resources the Prince has sublet his hunting quarters at Melton Mowbray.
