POSITION STILL BAD

HAMILTON UNEMPLOYMENT GOVERNMENT RELIEF SOUGHT 'HAMILTON, To-day. Some weeks ago the Hamilton Borough Council raised a further £I,OOO loan for unemployment relief work*, bringing the total for two years to over £6.000. The last loan is now exhausted and the position in the town is still practically unchanged. At last evening’s council meeting it was pointed out that no funds will be available for relief works after the third or fourth week in November. On the recommendation of the General Purposes Committee it was decided to make strong representations to the Government to deal with the situation.
