WRIT FOR DEFAMATION
MINISTER THREATENED WAIRARAPA CONTEST Press Association MASTERTON, Wednesday. The Hon. A. D- McLeod has been threatened with a writ for damages for defamation by Colonel T. W. McDonald, because he called him a political opportunist. He said that Colonel McDonald had offered his services to the Reform, Labour, Nationalist and United Parties. “The statement,” telegraphed Colonel McDonald, “is a deliberate lie, intended to injure me.” Mr. McLeod says his opponent’s reference about issuing a writ does not worry him in the slightest degree.
