HIGHWAY SYSTEM WRONG LABOUR MAN’S CRITICISM (Special to THE SUN) WHANGAREI, To-day. The highways should be bluilt to feed the railways, not parallel with them as in New Zealand, said Mr. W. Chetham, Labour candidate for Mars* den, in an address given to electors at Whangarei. The candidate declared that the railways were in difficulties all over the world, and there should be some alteration in the system. Speakfng on unemployment, the can*didato said a Government with any spirit of statesmanship would be able to deal with the problem. The introduction of unemployment insurance would be no more a dole tham-fire insurance was. The candidate said that the electors had .to choose between Reform and Labour, and after detailing the Labour policy, he said it was the one which should make the popular appeal. Mr. Chetham was accorded votes of thanks and confidence.
