GALE AT CHRISTCHURCH Press Association CHRISTCHHRCH, To-day. Attaining a speed of 50 miles an hour at times, a violent north-west gale swept over the city this morning. Trees were blown down, telegraph j lines broken, tents at the Show Grounds were torn to ribbons, and wireless station 3ZC was put out of action. The middle power line, which feeds Christchurch with electricity, was brought down early to-day near ! Brackenfield, when a tree, uprooted j by the gale, was carried across the line.
