MAJESTIC

A FINE PROGRAMME Only to-night and to-morrow remain for Auckland picturegoers to view the popular current programme at the Majestic Theatre. A strong pictorial programme is presented. A beautiful New Zealand scenic, “Silver Snows,” showing the Southern Alps in all their glory, a very merry comedy, “Do .Detectives Think?” with Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy in the comedy roles, and a Majestic Magazine, with many interesting and notable scenes comprise the supporting programme. “A Girl in Every Port, starring Victor McLaglen in a joyful story of the amorous adventures of a sailorRomeo, is the chief pictorial attraction. \ “The Water Melon Vine,” a novel stage interlude, is proving very popular. This is presented by the Majestic Male Quartet, which sings several harmonious “Negro Spirituals.” Special mention should be made of the stage scenery. A large water-melon, realistic in every detail, is seen in the first scene. The second shows the interior, of a luscious melon, and from the inside pojj up the heads of the well-known singers. , , . . A bright and appropriate musical programme is provided by Mr. "Whiteford Waugh’s Majestic Orchestra. “The Wanderer’s Goal” (Suppe) is the overture, and both musical gems from favourite famous compositions, and popular light music, are played. Another monster “laughter programme” -will be presented on Friday. This will be headed by “Detectives,” with Karl Dane and George K. Arthur, the funniest comedy team yet, in the leading roles.
