HARBOUR BRIDGE

FAVOURED BY MR. MASON MISLEADING ELECTORS At the two meetings he addressed on the North Shore last evening Mr. M. G. R. Mason, Labour candidate for Auckland Suburbs, expressed his strong approval of the harbour bridge scheme. At Beach Haven, Mr. W. B. Darlow presided over a large attendance. Mr. Mason referred to an anonymous letter which had been published to the effect that the other two candidates had endorsed the harbour bridge proposal. He said this was not the innocent affair some might suppose, but was merely a designed attempt to mislead electors as to his attitude. Mr. Mason said that on every opportunity he had supported the efforts of the member for the district in the House on the bridge question. Mr. E. C. Walton presided over a meeting at Birkdale, where Air. Mason again made it clear that he had effectively supported the bridge proposals in Parliament and he regretted that the Reform candidate used in his printed circular no more favourable expression as to the bridge scheme than ho did to the improbable Whau Canal scheme.

Several questions relating to transport were dealt with at the close of the meeting. At both meetings Air. Alason received votes of thanks and confidence.
