PLUNKET SOCIETY GIVES FAREWELL FUNCTION TO THAMES NURSE 1
The goodwill in which Miss Perrin, who has been Plunket nurse for the Thames district for three and a-half years, is held by the people -with whom she has come in contact, within the course of her duties, was evident by the large number that was present at a farewell gathering; given by the Plunket Society on the eve of Miss Perrin’s removal to Dunedin. The gathering was representative of the district, the Hauraki Plains being present in full force. Mrs. Miller paid a high tribute to the conscientious and capable manner in which their guest had fulfilled her duties. Miss Perrin had endeared herself to every home and patient she had visited. Mrs. J. B. Liggins, on behalf of the Blanket mothers, presented Miss Perrin with a gold wristlet watch, and said they all regretted that health reasons had forced her to resign. Miss Perrin, in replying, said . that had it not been for the support and loyal co-operation of the society, it would not have been possible to carry out her work. She appealed for a continuance of that loyalty to -her successor, Miss Johnstone. The gathering was made more enjoyable by musical items by the following ladies: Mesdames Collins, Teasdale, Bennett. Marshall, Long, and Miss N. Deeble and Mr. G. Kerby. A delightful afternoon tea was provided by the members of the committee. The singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” and “Auld Lang Syne” terminated an enjoyable gathering.
