(From Our Own Correspondent) WHANGAREI, Sunday. In senior cricket yesterday, Onerahi had a one-run victory over Portland. In the first innings, Onerahi made 86 runs (Drever, 16; C. Hewlet, 17; W. Mason, 27). Portland responded with 85 runs. For Onerahi, Mason took eight wickets for 27 runs. Nomads scored a three-point vic 7 tor over Y.M.C.jA. Nomads made 95 in the first innings (Grove, 20; Hedditch, 25; and Wakelin, 17). Y.M.C.A. made 31 in the first innings, and 20 in the second. Playing against Whangarei, High School A made 59 in the first strike (Birch 21 and Aim 11). and in the second innings 63 (Pirn, 37). Whangarei made 111 runs in the first innings (Jennings 17, Gash 6). Birch took seven wickets for 15 runs. Whangarei’s second innings produced 6 runs (Dennis, 12; Mcßeth, 24). High School B scored a three-point win over Hikurangi. In the first innings High School made 38 runs (Miller, 24), Arneil taking seven wickets. In the second innings they made 140 for five wickets, and declared (Miller, 93; Galcon, 29 not out). In the first innings, Hikurangi made 50 runs (Wilson, 29), while the second innings produced 33 runs. HAMILTON, Sunday. The first series of senior matches was concluded yesterday. With a first innings score of 189 Hamilton East defeated Hamilton, 80 and 79 (Cassidy, 44; Hampton, 15). In the match u gainst Y.M.C.A., Old Boys concluded the second innings for 131 (Rolfe, 68; Fitzgerald, 30). Old Boys, who made 196 in the first innings, won by an innings and 46 runs. With a first-innings score of 162 Hamilton East B team made 150 in the second innings (Fair, 42; Mills, 25), defeating High School B, 199 and 82 (Owens, 19; Cooper, 16) by 22 runs. In the second innings against the Frankton team, pid Boys, who had scored 188 on the previous day, made 39 for nine wickets (Steel 15). Frankton made 109 and 39 (Clark 9).
