NOT PROGRESSIVE
UNITED MAN DENOUNCES REFORM (From Oar Own Correspondent) WAIHI, To-day. Though suffering from influenza, Mr. E. McGregor, the United Party candidate for the Thames electorate, addressed a meeting of 200 electors in the Miners’ Hall, Waihi, last evening. Mr. A. H. Blackmore presided. The candidate devotes himself almost entirely to a criticism of the Government, claiming that the party f and particularly the Prime Minister, has failed signally to bring down legislation of a progressive nature in the best interests of the country and people. Mr. McGregor also criticised the Dairy Control Board, the Licensing Bill and the Arbitration Bills. He condemand the duty placed on imported wheat, as it tended to increase the cost of living and restricted the growth of wheat in New Zealand. He also condemned the Government land settlemen policy, and quoted the Te Wera block as an instance of Governmental bluner. A vote of thanks, proposed by M‘. J. Thorpe, was carried by acclamation.
