TWO-MINUTE SILENCE
COMMEMORATION SERVICES ON ARMISTICE DAY HIS MAJESTY’S WISHES Press Association WELLINGTON. Thursday. lI.M. the King has expressed the wish that this present year, as Armistice Day falls on a Sunday, a service of commemoration should be held in every church. A special service will be held in Westminster Abbey at which the King will be present, and at his Majesty's desire will commence at 10.45 a.m. During that service a solemn silence will be observed at 11 am. The New Zealand Government trusts that all Dominion churches will make similar arrangements, and that those not attending churches will also observe two minutes’ silence. “THEIR NAME LIVETH” ARMISTICE DAY MEDAL (United P A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and S.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Thurs. To commemorate Armistice Day the Royal Mint has struck a medal designed by Mr. C. L. Doman, of Wimbledon. On the obverse side, typifying Deliverance, is shown a figure of Great Britain, supporting a young warrior with the broken shackles of war, and offering a wreath to the memory of the fallen. On the reverse side is the Cenotaph surrounded by the words, “Their name liveth for evermore.” RAILWAY MEN WILL OBSERVE SILENCE Two minutes of respectful silence will be observed by men throughout the railway service on Sunday, Armistice Day. All trains running on that day will stop for two minutes from 11 a.m. No ordinary work is to be carried out on that day, and any member of the staff who is necessarily on the job is askpd by the department to stand reverently by during the two minutes after 11 o’clock.
