THE LUSITANIA

Sir, — In reference to your cable about the sinking of the Lusitania in The Sun, I ferj that I must draw your attention to the fact that I have in my posses-

sion one of the medals as described in your footnote to the article. There is one exception, however. On one side the Lusitania is shown sinking stern first, with bow well above the waves, which are breaking over her. On the top of the obverse side are the words, “Heine Bann Ware,” while at the bottom are these words: Der Gross Dampfer Lusitania. Durch ein Deutsches Tauchboo Versenkt 5 May, 1915.

Turning the medal over, one sees a scene showing a line of persons crowding around a window, at which a figure of a skeleton is shown serving tickets. Ho is depicted with one hand on the window-ledge and the other is handing out the ticket. Underneath the ledge are the words “Fahrakarten Ausgabe,” while these words are the top edges, “Geschaft Über Alles.” I think that your mistake in saying that the boat was sinking bow first should be corrected. Kindly translate the German words for me. J.
