PERSONAL..—Captain A. R. Stewart, who has been on holidays at Auckland, has resumed command of the Kaimanawa, relieving Captain J. G. Watson for instructions.

Captain G. A. Grey, of the Kaitangata, has transferred to the command of the Kahika, relieving Captain E. J. McLellan for holidays.

Captain Donald McDonald is now in command of the Koranui, Captain J. L. Brisco having been granted holidays. Captain E. Evans has completed his holidays and has joined the Oonah, relieving Captain W. J. S. Eyre for holidays. Captain F. J. G. Warren and Captain G. D. Fraser are awaiting instructions at Auckland.

The Manuka, which recommissioned at Wellington recently, is in command of Captain G. B. Morgan. His deck officers are; Chief, Mr. A. G. M. Christie; second, Mr. J. S. Beaton; third, Mr. A. J. Matheson; fourth, Mr. E. F. Rainbow.

MAILS ARRIVING.—The Chief Postmaster advises that the R.M.M.S. Aorangi, from Vancouver, is due at Auckland on Sunday and has 609 bags of English and American mail on board. WAIPAHI SAILING. At 5 o’clock this afternoon the local office of the Union Company is dispatching the Island fruit steamer Waipahi for Suva, where she will load again for this port.

CARGO FROM EAST CANADA. —The New Zealand Shipping Company report that they will not have any steamer leaving Montreal during November for New Zealand ports.

TOFUA SAILS SATURDAY. At 11 a.m. on Saturday the Union Company s Island passenger steamer Tofua leaves Auckland for Fiji, Tonga and Samoo. Captain A. II Prosser will be in command for this voyage.

NAURU CHIEF REPORTS. According to a radio message received by Henderson and Macfarlane, the steamer Nauru Chief is expected to arrive at Auckland on Sunday from Ocean Island. The vessel has a full cargo of phosphates for discharge at this port.

CERASUS FOR WESTPORT. Henderson and Macfarlane advises that the steamer Cerasus was to leave Wanganui yesterday for Westport, where she bunkers before proceeding to Nauru Island to load for New Zealand or Australia.

MAUN GAN U I FOR N.Z. —With passengers, mails and cargo for New Zealand and Australia, the Royal Mail liner Maunganui left San Francisco yesterday for Papeete, Rarotonga, Wellington and Svdney. She is due at Wellington on November 19, and at Sydney five days later.

THE GOLDEN CLOUD. —The American steamer Golden Cloud left San Francisco for Los Angeles last Monday to complete loading cargo from Pacific Coast ports for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin and Timaru. She is scheduled to clear Los Angeles to-day and to reach Auckland on November 27. KING EDGAR SHIFTS. —The King Line motor-ship King Edgar was moved from Western Wharf to King’s Wharf at noon to-day to continue unloading asphalt from Mexico. To-morrow she is to be dispatched for Gisborne, Napier, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington, Wanganui and New Plymouth, to complete discharge.

RUAHINE TO COMPLETE. —■ Leaving Auckland at noon on Saturday for Wellington, thence Napier, the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the liner Ruahine will complete her loading at the latter port and sail finally on November 10 from there for Southampton and London, via Panama.

DEVON SAILS TO-NIGHT. At 11. o’clock to-night the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company is dispatching the Federal steamer Devon to Napier, where she completes her loading, and finally departs at the week-end for New York, Halifax, London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool, via Panama.

AORANGI AT SUVA. —Advice received by the local office of the Union Company states that the R.M.M.S. Aorangi, from Vancouver and way ports, arrived at Suva this morning, and leaves at 4 o’clock this afternoon for Auckland. She is due here on Sunday afternoon, and is scheduled to resume her voyage at 5 p.m. next Tuesday to Sydney. TAINUI LEAVES BALBOA. —Cabled advice has been received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company that their liner Tainui, en route from London and Southampton, left Balboa on Sunday afternoon for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. She is due at Wellington on November 17 to land passengers only.

ROTORUA CLEARS MADEIRA. The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has been advised that the liner Rotorua, en route from London and Southampton, arrived and sailed from Madeira on October 30 for Auckland and Wellington. She is expected here on December 1.

MAUI POMARE FOR NORFOLK ISLAND. Spedding, Limited, advises that the Government motor-ship Maui Pomare is now due at Auckland on November 9 from Apia, Samoa, Niue Island, Lyttelton and Wellington, and is to sail again the following day for Norfolk Island. The vessel is due at Lyttelton next Monday.

MATARQA’S RECORD RUN

Press Association WELLINGTON, Wednesday. THE Shaw, Savill turbine liner Mataroa, which arrived at nine o’clock last evening, made a record run of 32 days 19 hours from England, beating her former best by 23 hours. But for a southerly gale she would have done still better.

TURAKINA’S ITINERARY.-The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that some alterations have been made in. the proposed loading itinerary of the Turakina. The vessel will leave Bluff on Saturday for New Plymouth’and Wellington. She is due at Wellington on November 8, and will leave ther6 on November 13 for Napier, Auckland and Tokomaru Bay. The Turakina is to sail finally from Tokomaru Bay on November 24 for New York, Halifax, London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool.
