FORGERY CHARGE FAILS TROUBLE OVER RECEIPT “Not guilty,” wa6 the verdict of tin* jury which heard evidence in the Supreme Court yesterday in the trial of Ivan Yovich and Mick Millan Yovich, Dalmatian brothers charged conjointly with forgery at Ruakaka, near Whangarei. Mick Yovich was also charged with acting upon a document, an insurance receipt for £24, knowing it to be not genuine. Mr. V. N. Hubble prosecuted for the Crown and Mr. Stedman, of Whangarei. defended. While working for accused another Dalmatian, Tony Jurasovich, met with an accident and lodged a claim for £24 with the National Insurance Company. The sum was forwarded together with a receipt form. It was alleged that Ivan Yovich received the money, signed the receipt at the instigation of Mick, and paid Jurasovich £l6. Detective Robertson said Ivan Yovich admitted that his brother persuaded him to sign the receipt, but later he refused to discuss the matter. Mr. Stedman submitted there was no case to answer against Mick Yovich. Mr. Justice Blair agreed, and at his direction the jury dismissed the charges against Mick Yovich. In evidence, Ivan Yovich said Jurasovich authorised him to sign the receipt on his behalf in order to save trouble. The jury was absent only a few i minutes. /
