SWIMMING FOR CHILDREN
AUCKLAND CENTRE’S WORK ANNUAL MEETING HELD The Auckland Swimming Centre’s educational officer, Mr. L. Brighton, of the Ponsonby Club, was thanked at last evening’s annual meeting for his work in furthering swimming instruction in schools in city and province. Mr. Brighton said that the work had not come up to expectations. The Ponsonby Club had not been able to continue its instruction classes and the closing of the Parnell Baths had affected the Parnell Club. • Other clubs, notably Mount Eden, had been able to do good work. The 21st annual report of the centre was presented, and the balance sheet revealed satisfactory finances. Ten clubs had been affiliated to the centre during the year. A recommendation will be sent to the New Zealand Council asking that Mr. T. A. Boatwright, of Manly, should be appointed New Zealand’s representative on the Australian control.
